I’m Mascha Scholtmeijer, a visual artist and graphic designer from Leek, Groningen, the Netherlands.
I study Graphic Design at Minerva Academy in Groningen. Alongside my studies, I paint and draw, primarily working with oil paint and pencil.
My interest in drawing and painting started at a young age and has remained a constant part of my life. My paintings mainly focus on the human figure, with women as a recurring subject.
I work primarily with oil paint and am interested in the relationship between form, colour and expression. My work often starts with an image, gesture or feeling that catches my attention, without having everything planned beforehand.
My background in graphic design also influences the way I work. Composition, visual language, colour and simplicity are subjects I explore both in my design work and in my paintings.
Alongside my personal art practice, I also work with graphic design, illustration and photography.
